  • Sometimes it’s hard to serve God. Serving God can be challenging, frustrating, draining, unfulfilling, empty, exhausting, distressing, hard
  • Sometimes I don’t feel like doing what God’s word tells me to do or say what God’s word tells me to say
  • Sometimes I don’t feel like loving my enemies, not judging, not condemning
  • I want to ask God what are you doing? Why are you allowing this? God why is it so hard to serve your people?
  • Sometimes I’m very disappointed in ME! God what am I not doing, need to do, doing wrong, missing, don’t understand? Why does it have to be so hard?
  • Gladness: a state of (well) being based on knowledge. Knowledge of what? A favorable outcome of where I am or what I’m going through

  • Scripture lesson: How to be raised up in authority (ruling), visibility (recognition) & legacy (reward)
  • Not everyone can be famous, but any and every body can be great. Greatness is about service, being other-centered, which builds teams & cooperation
  • Ambition (personal) is self-serving, self-centered, produces tension & conflict
  • Jesus is not against ambition; He wants me to do it in the right way
  • Humans tend towards selfishness & being self-centered, but there’s also a human need for selflessness
  • Altruism: the unselfish concern for the welfare of another human being; Egoism: an excessive focus on one’s self
  • Altruistic Egoism: I get mine when you get yours

  • Nature is consistent. Life emerges from the consistency of nature. Inconsistency is not consistent with life

  • Commitment looks for ways to make it happen. There is always a way if I am committed!
  • Commitment is more than just interest. Interest is convenience, comfort, calm. Commitment is no excuses!
  • Commitment is more than involvement. Commitment is giving my life to make something happen
